I think people who liked both of them [Grant!Jason and Judd!Jason] will be very very happy. It’s a little bit of both. I’m picking up where Grant left off. Including the other characters, including Dick Grayson as Batman and Damian Wayne as Robin, who is so much fun. Damian, I think, is one of the best characters to come along in years. He really redefined Robin, we were just talking about it this morning that some people don’t get it, that he’s a snotty kid, he’s not snotty, he’s pompous, he’s an aristocrat which makes it great for the dynamic with Dick and Damian and Jason. Because Damian really HATES Jason. On a completely visceral level, he finds him disgusting and appalling and we should lock him in a concrete room forever. That’s how you play him, that’s the ten year old boy who is Robin, that’s how it works.

As far as Jason Todd, I’ve been writing him a long time and I’ve been very vocal about how much I loved Grant’s take, which is insane. It was great, it was great to see how far he could go and what he did with it. And that was Grant placing him, not in this weird costume, (it’s/in) Gotham but where is this character now, what is he doing in now. So coming out of what came before, this is the head space Jason is in there, and Jason is a character who adapts, who changes, who’s hypocritical. The best way I can say it is in this brief three arc run, you’re going to see a culmination of both. Things that Grant did along with things that I did and these two things will meet and we’re going to get a whole new Jason Todd.

[…stuff about Damian and his vulnerability and his issues…]

We don’t have the emotional beef moments in there, done, actually, I’ve finished it and it off at the artists and his fun begins. I think what we get to see here is, well, they’re teaming up. We actually haven’t had that. We had it briefly for a breath in Under the Hood when Batman and Red Hood are sort of fighting on the same side. It’s mostly just for a fight. In this, they have to throw in together to get the job in and it’s fun and uncomfortable and there’s a lot of yelling and screaming at each other in the script.

Um… What is this moral superiority of Damian’s based on again?

But Damian has always had the class superiority — he’s had it over Dick with being both the biological son and being an aristocrat (“I got an island for Christmas!”) and I think he even first demeaned Dick’s circus roots when they first started working together. But Damian has also had moral superiority —- look at how he thought he could just take out Tim and be Robin, that he was ultimately better simply based on the fact that he’s Bruce’s son and therefore already has the values, morals, etc., to make the better Robin. (Or better Batman, he wanted to take the role from Dick in BnR #1)

I think Damian doesn’t really understand that he’s being hypocritical, though, because he’s still a 10-year-old little boy.

And also… I’m a little trepidatious following this interview and the cover art by Guillem March… and the fact that March will be doing the interior art… All I see is pinhead pimple face and red hair…. :/
